THE BEST OF THE BEST

Judge Phuduhudu has recently been awarded the prestigious award or Master Service advisor. This requires a year of study and on the job training and he joins an elite group within the Toyota Dealer network. We at Halfway Fourways are very proud to have Judge in our team.

Nick Hall has also been awarded the position of Master Foreman and this has an even smaller membership with less than 120 throughout the country.

We are very lucky to be able to offer this level of expertise to our customers at Halfway Toyota Fourways.

HALFWAY TOYOTA FOURWAYS REACHES OUT TO MOTHERS AND CHILDREN IN DIEPSLOOT

Fourways, 8 June 2011 - A group of unemployed single mothers beamed from ear to ear as Halfway Toyota Fourways handed them blankets to keep them warm this winter. Halfway Toyota placed an appeal for blankets to be dropped off at any of their dealerships in local newspapers. Halfway Toyota Fourways quickly collected a Land Cruiser load full of blankets and set off this morning to Diepsloot to hand them out.

At the ‘Word in Motion’ Centre in Diepsloot, representatives from Halfway Toyota Fourways were met by Project manager, Mr Freddie Mzila, who was clearly moved and elated at the mountain of blankets that were to be donated to the throngs of unemployed single mothers who gather at the centre every Wednesday waiting for their plate of soup from the soup kitchen.

Freddie is passionate about the work he does and proudly shows the group around the modest and humble centre, which is home to eight permanent orphans who Freddie fondly regards as his own children. The core focus of the centre is to daily feed breakfast and lunch to 279 primary school going children, who, without the centre, would go hungry. In addition, the school has a daily crèche for over 20 small children and is currently implementing sewing and shoe making classes to up skill the unemployed single mothers in the area, who have come to rely on generous donations of food, clothing and blankets from the public.

“On behalf of the ladies here today, we thank Halfway Toyota for their kindness and for helping us and the children to have a warmer winter,” said Freddie.

“Halfway Toyota is grateful to the general public and to airline Emirates for their huge contribution towards our blanket drive. We were honored to be able to visit the centre in Diepsloot today to deliver the blankets and make a small difference, seeing so many smiling faces makes it so worthwhile,” said Mandy Cater, Marketing Manager

SESFIKILE TAXI LAUNCH

Today at Halfway Toyota Fourways the launch of the new diesel Sesfikile taxi attracted plenty of interest. Around 100 taxi owners and association members were present and a 74cm TV and microwave were handed out as prizes along with caps and T-shirts. This is the first diesel taxi that has been offered by Toyota and it is expected to be a huge success due to the reduced running costs plus the addition of ABS, airbags, and central locking.

For more information please call 011 3177 8888 and speak to either Wilson or William.

CARING FOR OUR CHILDREN

On Sat 6th November, Halfway Toyota take 5 technicians to Crawford College in Lonehill to teach the Grade 1 students how to change a wheel and how to actin an emergency situation for maximum safety. This was followed by a race to see which group of students could change the wheel the fastest - this was done by a group in the second session and was correctly done in just over 2 minutes!!!

The day was extremely well attended by over 100 students and although the day was fun the students all felt they learnt a very important lesson. A big thanks goes to Claude and his team who willingly gave up their Saturday morning to assist in this exercise. If any other schools or tertiary institution would like to do something similar please contact Mandy Cater on 011 317 8888.

HALFWAY TOYOTA FOURWAYS IS CLEANING UP YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD

We at Halfway Toyota Fourways are trying to do our bit for the neighbourhood by cleaning up intersections in our area. Sadly we have been forced out a little due to a rather unhelpful local resident in Lonehill who has asked the police to move us on. We would very much like to clean up Witkoppen from William Nicol to Main Road but sadly are not allowed! So we will clean up where we can!!!

THE GREEN ROOM - OUR NEW PRIUS SHOWROOM

The Prius has a new home at Halfway Toyota Fourways! And what a room it is. When you walk in, you tend to forget that you are at a car dealership as you are surrounded by images of nature and have "grass" under your feet.

For more photos, go to our gallery and choose Green Room from the dropdown. Or come and experience it first hand by visiting us!

WORLDWIDE PRIUS SALES PASS TWO MILLION MARK

Toyota is celebrating another milestone for Prius with worldwide sales passing two million since the original hybrid was launched in 1997. Across three generations, approximately 2,012,000 units have been sold in more than 70 countries and regions, up to the end of September this year. In South Africa 669 Prius vehicles have been sold up to end September 2010.

Based on these volumes, Toyota calculates Prius has saved around 11 million tonnes of CO2 emissions compared to petrol models of similar size and power, an achievement supported by its continuing development of its full hybrid technology to achieve even cleaner and more fuel efficient performance.

Today’s Prius emits just 94 g/km of CO2 – the lowest figure achieved by any current production car with an internal combustion engine – and has an official combined cycle fuel consumption figure of 4.1 litres/100km.

Hybrid power is a central element in Toyota’s development of more environmentally efficient vehicles and Prius continues to provide an excellent platform in which to demonstrate its flexibility and real-world benefits. Supported by Prius’s global achievements, Toyota aims to sell at least one million hybrid vehicles annually as early as possible in the 2010s.

Our very own Judge, is handed over the keys for a vehicle left to him by the late Mrs. Siket, a long standing client, of Halfway Toyota Fourways, who tragically passed away earlier this year after losing her battle with cancer.

She insisted that the vehicle be given to Judge, as he had always
looked after the vehicle and her needs.

Oh and it happened to be his birthday today too!!!
